Open House

                                 

 Open house at The Vintage Home Studio was a great night. Met some new customers and got to visit with some dear friends too ! Always so much that goes into an event, and get really nervous about what the turn out is going to be, but it always pays off !! Not in the sense of dollars but in building relationship with each person that walks in the shop. One of my favorite parts of having a shop. It sometimes turns into the "hub" and that's so much fun too.

Opening week !!!

Well I don't know that I feel ready, or even if it was perfectly decorated would I be ready, but now is as good a time as any !!! Opening this week at The Vintage Home Studio. 104 Broad Street  Wilkesboro  NC 28697. Hour are Tuesday to Friday 11:00 to 5:30. Please stop by to shop or just say HI !!! 

Still have lots to make and new merchandise coming in, so as everything it will keep evolving , which is how I like it anyway. See you  this week !!!! 

Busy , busy, busy !!!

Some days there are just not enough hours in the day, especially when you are trying to get a Studio up and running !! Although this is probably my favorite part of doing a business , the getting it all together, it sure is time consuming. And how all the money goes out and none coming in .... Eeek !!!

None the less , we got the new sign up yesterday , here is a picture ...

   

I will be set up tonight , even tho not all my new merchandise has arrived, but it is Friday so that means "Wilkesboro Open Air Market " and I am just around the corner, so come out and visit, say HELLO and give some encouragement !!!! Thanks All !!!!

Being Positive !!!

Keeping a positive attitude on this raining Monday !!!! Lots to do and I'm not letting a little rain slow me down !!! Gotta a new studio to get open , and its OPENING SOON !!!

Moving Week !!!

So excited for this week !! Moving into the charming little historic building in downtown Wilkesboro NC, and can't wait to be a part of the community again. So much to do, and so many ideas going through my head, but I'm sure once I get the key and move in it will all fall into place. 

Had a great time at the Pumpkin Festival in Elkin Nc this past Saturday, a big THANKS to Eris Ball for setting us in in an empty building downtown Elkin, with her POP UP SHOP , she does a great job !!! If any of you out there live in a small town and would love to see one of your empty buildings used for a gathering of artist for a day, she is the one to put that all together. Let me know and I will pass on her contact info. 

Off to get an order out, and hoping this week exceeds my expectation !!!!

Creative Process

This is usually what the process looks like when I start ..... A big MESS !!! A mess of fabric , then as I go along and mix and match and cut and sew..... It all turns into something, and sometimes I get super excited about how it turns out , other times, not often, it gets pushed to the bottom of the pile and I start over !!! But however it goes, I sure do enjoy creating :-) 

Antiques on Howard

Went to Boone NC, today to do a bit of decorating and had a great time !!! The store has a great variety of dealers and tons of stuff to look at and pick from. One of my favorite Antique stores around. She sells Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, and there are several reasonably priced pieces of furniture to choose from, and you can take home and paint yourself. Stop in and see for yourself !!!

Holidays around the corner ....

I have seen my first Christmas commercial and didn't think much about it , until everyone made such a big deal about how early it was to be showing holiday commercials already. I guess because when you are in retail and in business we have already been thinking about it. I had my line of holiday kitchen towels all planned out at the end of August , which by retail standards is late. Most people have either ordered by now or been shipped all the merchandise for holidays already. I am usually a few steps behind, and play catch up when I realize it is just around the corner ....

I love this time of the year, the cool nights, the leaves changing and that crisp feeling that happens by the end of October. So I guess it's coming and so will the commercials , just going to try and sit back and enjoy the change that is ...... Around the corner !!!

Baby, Baby, Baby....

Just started working on baby items, had a few request for burp cloths so I am trying to do with a bit of a vintage twist but still patched with a mix of fabrics across

the bottom. This is my first two ......

Still a work in progress, would like some to look a bit more "shabby chic" , so I am going to dig through fabric scraps and see what i can come up with, keep you posted !!!!

Getting started AGAIN !!!!

Here I am in Wilkesboro North Carolina, I live in the foothills of the mountains and it is beautiful, moved away for a couple of years, but came back to the place I feel most at home. Starting over can be frustrating and refreshing all at the same time ! 
I have gone from being a store owner to working for others and now having a home based business. This time I am hoping to not only change my view on my business but on life as well. I have set new goals and a new outlook on how I am going about my day to day life. 
Hoping to not only grow my business, but to use it to help others.......

I have to admit from the get go, I am not a writer and I don't take great pictures ( my best friends have assured me of this ) but I TRY and thats a start.
