Creative Process

This is usually what the process looks like when I start ..... A big MESS !!! A mess of fabric , then as I go along and mix and match and cut and sew..... It all turns into something, and sometimes I get super excited about how it turns out , other times, not often, it gets pushed to the bottom of the pile and I start over !!! But however it goes, I sure do enjoy creating :-) 

Antiques on Howard

Went to Boone NC, today to do a bit of decorating and had a great time !!! The store has a great variety of dealers and tons of stuff to look at and pick from. One of my favorite Antique stores around. She sells Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, and there are several reasonably priced pieces of furniture to choose from, and you can take home and paint yourself. Stop in and see for yourself !!!

Holidays around the corner ....

I have seen my first Christmas commercial and didn't think much about it , until everyone made such a big deal about how early it was to be showing holiday commercials already. I guess because when you are in retail and in business we have already been thinking about it. I had my line of holiday kitchen towels all planned out at the end of August , which by retail standards is late. Most people have either ordered by now or been shipped all the merchandise for holidays already. I am usually a few steps behind, and play catch up when I realize it is just around the corner ....

I love this time of the year, the cool nights, the leaves changing and that crisp feeling that happens by the end of October. So I guess it's coming and so will the commercials , just going to try and sit back and enjoy the change that is ...... Around the corner !!!

Baby, Baby, Baby....

Just started working on baby items, had a few request for burp cloths so I am trying to do with a bit of a vintage twist but still patched with a mix of fabrics across

the bottom. This is my first two ......

Still a work in progress, would like some to look a bit more "shabby chic" , so I am going to dig through fabric scraps and see what i can come up with, keep you posted !!!!

Getting started AGAIN !!!!

Here I am in Wilkesboro North Carolina, I live in the foothills of the mountains and it is beautiful, moved away for a couple of years, but came back to the place I feel most at home. Starting over can be frustrating and refreshing all at the same time ! 
I have gone from being a store owner to working for others and now having a home based business. This time I am hoping to not only change my view on my business but on life as well. I have set new goals and a new outlook on how I am going about my day to day life. 
Hoping to not only grow my business, but to use it to help others.......
The Vintage Home has a lot of new exciting things going on, events, shows, and great new items for sale, which can be found in my Etsy store , thevintagehome.etsy.com , and on Facebook @ the vintage home.
I have to admit from the get go, I am not a writer and I don't take great pictures ( my best friends have assured me of this ) but I TRY and thats a start.
